HollyAlonzo – Never Giving Up Hope

Deaf, Blind, And Determined

Sign Language

I learned how to sign the alphabet in kindergarten from a deaf student in my class. I picked up a few more signs over the years.

Even though I knew some signs, I did not know if they were correct or just what I sort of remembered. Until today…

I had my first real sign language class. A lady from the Services for the Deaf is working one on one with me.

She was amazed at how quickly I learn! It only took about 15 minutes to do what she had planned for an hour. The whole time she was signing and talking, I would ask her what a certain sign was.

I now know 50 new signs from today, as well as the other signs I already know. Can’t wait until the next session!

She will e-mail me and let me know when we can meet again. I hope it isn’t too long. I am eager to learn.
